The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary at the Dollar General store, 13200 Hwy. JJ, southeast of De Soto. At about 2 a.m. May 25, the culprit allegedly broke into the store and stole $32.60 in cigarettes, as well as an umbrella, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputies received a call about a “front-glass breakage alarm” at the store and arrived to find the bottom-right glass panel had been forced open and broken. Five packs of Marlboro cigarettes and a Weather Zone umbrella were stolen, the report said.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said June 10 that none of the items had been recovered and no arrests had been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
