Shawn Hunter Koch, 18, of St. Louis has been charged for allegedly assaulting a man in High Ridge. He allegedly struck the other man with a car, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on Aug. 2 charged Koch with first-degree assault, a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years in prison, and armed criminal action, an unclassified felony that carries a penalty of three to 15 years in prison, court documents show.

As of Monday, Koch was being held on a $75,000 surety bond at Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Koch confronted a 28-year-old St. Louis man on Aug. 2 in the 2500 block of Braintree Drive. The older man was working in the area as a contractor.

The two men were arguing about a vehicle. After the argument, Koch got into a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix and drove down the street, the case’s probable-cause statement said.

He then turned the car around and drove at the other man, hitting him with the Grand Prix, the report said.

The man, who was hit by the car, was transported by the North Jefferson County Ambulance District to an area hospital with non-life-threating injuries to his left leg and ankle, according to the report.

An update on the man’s condition was not available on Monday.
