Hillsboro Police arrested a 49-year-old Potosi man for allegedly throwing a woman off a second-story balcony on June 19. The victim, a 41-year-old Festus woman, suffered multiple injuries, including a broken pelvis and leg injuries, police reported.
The woman was taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County and then transferred to another area hospital, where she remained hospitalized Tuesday (June 22), according to Hillsboro Police.
The suspect, David R. Andrews, has been charged with first-degree domestic assault, a class A felony punishable by 10 to 30 years or life in prison.
He was being held today in the Jefferson County Jail without bond, Hillsboro Police reported.
Capt. Darrick Curtis said police got a call at 11:20 a.m. about a disturbance at a commercial building near Business 21 and First Street. Multiple witnesses said the man and woman were arguing, and then the man threw the woman off the balcony, police reported.
When police arrived at the scene, the victim was conscious and alert, but with apparent injuries, according to the report.
Curtis said Andrews admitted to throwing the woman over the balcony.
