Christopher D. Politte, 44, of De Soto, a prior offender, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for felony drug trafficking, court records show.

In December 2014, Politte was pulled over at South Main Street and Amvets Drive in De Soto for driving with a suspended license, and the detective found methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and numerous items commonly used to make meth inside the vehicle, the probable-cause statement said.

The detective also found scales and a police scanner in the vehicle, the report said.

Politte pleaded guilty to one count of felony trafficking in drugs and one count of felony possession of a controlled substance, and on March 6, Jefferson County Div. 4 Circuit Judge Mark T. Stoll sentenced him to 15 years for the trafficking charge and 10 years for the possession charge. Both terms are to be served concurrently, or at the same time, court papers indicate.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Trisha C. Stefanski handled the case.

The 15 years also are to be served concurrent with two 10-year terms he previously was sentenced to for felony drug charges stemming from incidents in January 2008 and June 2008, both in Jefferson County, according to court documents.

Politte currently is in the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston.
