Pevely Police are investigating the theft of a 25-foot roll of copper wire from the Ameren Missouri substation in the 8700 block of Burks Pony Farm Road. The theft happened at about 10:45 p.m. Oct. 13, police reported.
Dunklin firefighters, whose station is next to the Ameren Missouri substation, reported the theft after they noticed a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer speeding away from the substation area. According to the report, the Trailblazer turned onto eastbound Hwy. Z.
Officers investigated the scene and found a section of fence had been cut and the wire missing. The wire was valued at $87.50, and the damage to the fence was estimated at $100, the report said..
As of Oct. 18, no arrests had been made and the copper wire had not been recovered, a Pevely Police spokesman said. Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call Pevely Police at 636-475-5301.
