Robert L. Meyers, 29, of Imperial has been sentenced to 10 years in prison following numerous felony charges, including robbery, burglary and tampering, court records show.
In Dec. 2013, Meyers approached a man in Arnold, demanded his money, stating “Give me your money and I won’t hurt you,” and then knocked the man to the ground, stole his money and ran away, the probable-cause statement said.
Arnold Police arrested Meyers a short time later inside the Dollar General store on Jeffco Boulevard, where he had removed and discarded the ski mask and camouflage-pattern coat he had been wearing during the robbery, according to the report.
In October 2013, Meyers forced open a door to the Bob’s Disposal building on Big Z Boulevard in Imperial and stole numerous items, the probable-cause statement said.
A few months later, in January 2014, a woman left her 2003 Ford Focus unlocked and running on the Circle K parking lot, 504 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold and later it was found on a parking lot in the 100 block of Manufacturer’s Drive in Arnold. After that, while Meyers was being questioned by police, he admitted to taking the car, driving it to St. Louis to buy heroin and then leaving it at the Manufacturer’s Drive address, the probable-cause statement said.
That was the second time Meyers had stolen a vehicle at the Arnold Circle K. In December 2013, he stole a 2003 Dodge Dakota left unlocked and running there, the report said.
On July 7, 2015, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway at Old Lemay Ferry and Goldman roads in the Hillsboro area, and Meyers was found in the area running through woods near houses. He admitted that the car was his, and he was found with methamphetamine, the probable-cause statement said.
Meyers pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery for the December 2013 incident when he knocked down the man and stole his money. He also pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary for the October 2013 incident, to two counts of first-degree tampering for stealing the vehicles at Circle K and to possession of a controlled substance for the July 2015 incident, court records indicate.
On Dec. 21, 2015, Jefferson County Div. 4 Circuit Judge Mark T. Stoll sentenced Myers to 10 years for the robbery. Meyers also was sentenced to three seven-year terms – one for the burglary, one for the tampering charge stemming from the January 2014 incident and one for the drug charge. He also was sentenced to five years for the other tampering charge. All the terms are to be served concurrently, or at the same time, according to court papers.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Steven W. Jerrell handled the cases.
Meyers currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
