Kodie James McDowell, 28, of French Village, formerly of House Springs, recently had his probation revoked and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
He had previously pleaded guilty to charges from four separate cases including two counts of second-degree drug trafficking as a prior and persistent offender, possession of a controlled substance as a prior and persistent offender, delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Jefferson County Circuit Judge Joseph Rathert on Dec. 5 revoked McDowell’s probation for the four cases and executed the previously suspended sentences he received in December 2024. McDowell was sentenced to 12 years in three cases and four years in another case, with the sentences running concurrently, or at the same time.
The case was prosecuted by Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Lindsay E. Whalen.
According to a probable-cause statement, on Nov. 9, 2017, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Four Ridge Road in House Springs to interview McDowell who was a suspect in another case.
After being told that he was in the woods hunting, officers found him sitting in the woods with a rifle. Near him, officers found a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine and inside the home, officers found a large amount of marijuana in a safe, pills, scales, ammunition and guns, the report said.
He allegedly admitted to driving to Colorado and purchasing five pounds of marijuana, which he brought back to his home for distribution. He allegedly said he also had bought a large amount of marijuana from someone in the St. Louis area. The substances tested positive for meth, marijuana, oxycodone and alprazolam, the report said.
According to another probable-cause statement, on Sept. 3, 2022, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a driving while intoxicated investigation where it was determined McDowell was not driving while intoxicated. However, a narcotics canine determined there was narcotics in the vehicle and officers found drug paraphernalia and alprazolam, the report said.
According to a third probable-cause statement, on Nov. 2, 2022, the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated a crash in Imperial where McDowell was the driver. McDowell showed signs of being impaired and failed a field sobriety test, the report said.
Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly found 34 capsules containing white powder later identified as fentanyl. McDowell admitted to snorting cocaine, the report said.
The last probable-cause statement said McDowell was arrested Dec. 22 in Pevely for an active warrant and found in possession of 35 capsules, which were later identified as fentanyl.
