An unidentified man stole a cell phone and $20 after pretending to help another motorist change a tire on I-55 in Arnold, police reported. The incident occurred at 9:31 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
A motorist told Arnold Police he was getting ready to change a flat tire on a 2014 Dodge Charger when another man pulled over in a black Pontiac and offered to help him. When the motorist went to get his car jack, the other man took a Samsung cell phone and $20 and drove off, traveling south on I-55, the report said.
The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 20 and 30 with blond hair, the report said. As of Wednesday (Nov. 29), neither the phone nor money had been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, Detective Lt. James Jones said.
