Pevely man allegedly steals guns from Imperial home

Damian Jimison

Damian James Joseph Jimison, 21, of Pevely allegedly stole at least five guns from an Imperial home while a man was asleep in the house. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies also allegedly found a gun stolen from Illinois in Jimison’s Pevely home, according to court documents.

Jimison has been charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years in prison; and six counts of stealing a firearm, which are class D felonies each carrying a penalty of up to seven years in prison, court records show.

Jimison was arrested on Oct. 30, and as of Nov. 6, he was being held on a $50,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents said.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Jimison on Oct. 30 entered a home through an unlocked garage door in the 2100 block of Cook Road in Imperial. A man, who is related to Jimison, was sleeping inside the house at the time.

Jimison allegedly stole multiple guns from the home. He then went to his home in the 400 block of Elm Street in Pevely, the report said.

A woman told investigators when Jimison returned home early in the morning on Oct. 30 that he told her that he stole the guns. She provided a video of the guns in apartment, according to the report.

Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a search warrant at the Pevely apartment, and they found six guns. One gun was confirmed to be stolen from the Imperial home by its serial number, and the alleged victim identified four more of the guns as his, the report said.

A sixth gun recovered at the apartment was stolen from Mount Vernon, Ill., according to the report.
