An 18-year-old Jefferson County man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he allegedly drove a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am onto a curb in the Walmart Supercenter parking lot, 131 Eureka Towne Center Drive, Eureka Police reported.

Police were called to the parking lot at about 3 a.m. Aug. 24 and found the Grand Am on the curb with damage to the front end. The teenager told police he had been trying to exit the parking lot and attempted to turn, but the car kept going straight and onto the curb, the report said.

The teen allegedly had an odor of alcohol on his breath, glassy eyes and slurredhis speech, according to the report.

After failing a field sobriety test, he was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he allegedly registered a .16 blood-alcohol content, the report said. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.

The teen was booked and issued citations from the Eureka Municipal Court for driving while intoxicated, driving with an expired driver’s license and failure to produce valid proof of insurance, Capt. David Wilson said. The teen was released to a family member, he said.
