The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a pickup from outside a home in the 7800 block of Old Hwy. 21 in Barnhart. The stolen pickup, a 1996 Toyota Tacoma, was valued at about $3,000, police reported.
A woman told deputies she was put in charge of her friend’s trust after the friend died in March, and the pickup belonged to the trust. She said the pickup was parked in a grassy area near a garage at the home on April 22, but when she returned to the home on April 23, it was gone, the report said.
The woman told deputies she had the keys to the pickup, and her friend did not have any family members who might have taken the pickup, according to the report.
As of April 24, the pickup had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
