jcso 2 children dead 5-28-24

Investigators search a Mazda SUV that was driven this morning to Festus City Hall and Police Station on Tuesday morning by a woman who allegedly told officers she killed two of her children.

A 16-year-old Imperial woman said items worth $115 were stolen from her vehicle’s glove box while she was working at Marcus Arnold Cinema, 1912 Richardson Road. She said the car’s doors were unlocked but the glove box was locked, Arnold Police reported.

The teenager said she parked a 2001 Volvo V70 behind the business at about 5:30 p.m. Feb. 4 and when she returned to the car at about 11 p.m., she discovered someone had broken the lock on the glove box and taken her wallet, credit cards, $10 in cash, sunglasses and phone charger, the report said.

As of Feb. 9, none of the items had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
