woman in handcuffs

A 28-year-old De Soto woman was arrested Saturday night (May 6) for allegedly assaulting a law enforcement officer and other offenses, De Soto Police Chief Rick Draper said.

At 8:36 p.m., De Soto Police officers responded to a call in the 400 block of North Eleventh Street about a disturbance, but by the time they arrived, the disturbance had ended, Draper said.

However, they found a woman there who appeared intoxicated, Draper said.

Officers contacted Valle Ambulance to transport the woman for medical evaluation, but when the ambulance arrived, she resisted, Draper said.

“While attempting to assist the female into the ambulance, she struck the officer in the face,” Draper said. “After a short altercation, the officer was able to get the female in custody.”

She was booked, issued summonses to appear in the De Soto Municipal Court for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assaulting a law enforcement officer.

The woman was later released to a sober person, Draper said.
