A 48-year-old Imperial man was arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Arnold. The man already was wanted in Jefferson County on outstanding warrants, Arnold Police reported.

The man was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. Oct. 23 in the parking lot of Walgreens, 3937 Vogel Road, after an officer spotted the man driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, which reportedly had license plates registered to a 2008 Lincoln Navigator. After the officer stopped the car, it looked like the suspect was trying to hide something between the center console and the front passenger seat, the report said.

After a woman sitting in the passenger seat got out of the car, the officer allegedly found a canister that contained a white crystal-like substance and white powder inside. The officer also discovered the man was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on warrants for assault and failure to register a vehicle, according to the report.

The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. The woman was released at the scene, the report said.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Capt. Rich Shular said.
