Eureka Police identified a 16-year-old Chesterfield girl as a suspect after a gun was stolen from a home on Butler Drive. The 9-milimeter Glock 19X Gen5 gun was valued at approximately $650, police reported.
A 44-year-old Eureka woman reported the gun stolen at about 1:15 a.m. June 3. She said the girl had been with her son, a 21-year-old Eureka man, at the home, the report said.
The teenage girl had asked the man for Ibuprofen because she had a headache, and when he went to get the medicine, she left the home. The man said the gun was on top of a dresser in the room where the teen was, according to the report.
The man said he saw the teenager walked up the street and got into a car, which sped away. He was unable to provide a description of the car, the report said.
A detective located the teenager at a Chesterfield home, and he spoke with the girl and her father. The girl denied stealing the gun, according to the report.
Eureka Police contacted juvenile authorities to set up an interview with the girl on June 7. The girl refused to make a statement during the interview, the report said.
As of Monday, the gun had not been recovered, and no arrests had been made, Capt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about the stolen gun to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
