Two people believed to be connected to the theft of five catalytic converters from an Arnold business fled from police three days after the reported theft, Arnold Police reported.
The theft happened between about 5 p.m. Dec. 8 and 8:15 a.m. Dec. 9 at Home Care Equipment, 1106 Intagliata Drive, in Arnold, where the catalytic converters were cut off five of the company’s vans. The converters were valued at an estimated $7,500, the report said.
Surveillance footage showed someone repeatedly getting in and out of the passenger side of a tan SUV at the time of theft, the report said.
At about 11:55 a.m. Dec. 12, a detective spotted an SUV matching the one seen in the surveillance footage parked at the QuikTrip gas station, 1069 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. The detective pulled over and called for backup, according to the report.
While the detective was waiting for the officers to arrive, two people left the gas station’s convenience store and got into the SUV. The detective and other officers attempted to the stop the SUV, but the driver did not pull over and was last seen traveling north on I-55, according to the report.
As of Dec. 17, the converters had not been recovered, and the two people seen driving away in the SUV had not been identified, Capt. Rich Shular said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
