Arnold Police are searching for a man suspected of stealing fireworks worth $500 from an Atomic Fireworks’ trailer. Surveillance footage allegedly showed the man arrive at the business, 241 Arnold Crossroads Center, in an SUV and steal the fireworks, authorities reported.
Police were called to the business on June 15, about 50 minutes after the reported theft. According to the investigation, the surveillance video showed a black Dodge Durango drive onto the business parking lot at about 6:45 p.m. but leave a short time later. The driver was described as a white man with a trimmed beard and possibly a mustache, wearing a light-colored shirt and shorts, the report said.
Then, the Durango returned at about 8 p.m., and the same man allegedly was seen opening a door to a trailer and taking five boxes of fireworks from it and placing them in the SUV before driving away. A license plate on the pickup was traced to a Dodge Caliber in St. Louis, but the owner of that car previously reported his license plates had been stolen, according to the report.
As of June 23, the fireworks had not been recovered, and the driver had not been identified, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
