Firefighters battled a blaze that destroyed a mobile home on Running Deer Lane in Dittmer.

A vacant mobile home in the 8900 block of Running Deer Lane in Dittmer was destroyed by fire Monday night (Oct. 5), said Lt. John Scullin of the De Soto Rural Fire Protection District.

The district got a call around 11 p.m. about the fire, and when firefighters arrived on the scene, the single-wide mobile home already was “a total loss,” Scullin said.

“It was on the ground when we got there,” he said. “We were on scene about 90 minutes to cover hot spots and make sure it was contained.”

He said no firefighters were injured at the scene, which is in the extreme western part of the district off Hwy. WW.

“The cause is undetermined,” Scullin said. “There will be an investigation for a vacant structure fire.”

The Cedar Hill Fire Protection District assisted with the call.
