The ceiling at O’Dell’s Irish Pub, 141 S. Central Ave., in Eureka was damaged in a small fire this afternoon (Sept. 5), said Scott Barthelmass, the public information officer for the Eureka Fire Protection District.
He said the small electrical fire started in the ventilation fan in the ceiling of the women’s bathroom and did not spread.
“A really small amount of water was used to put out the fire,” Barthelmass said.
He said an employee smelled smoke in the rear of the restaurant.
Barthelmass said he believed the restaurant would be closed tonight and would not be able to reopen until it’s inspected.
Crews got a call about the fire at 2:58 p.m. and arrived on scene by 3:01 p.m.
Barthelmass said the fire was out by 3:15 p.m.
The High Ridge, Pacific and Metro West Fire protection districts helped with the call.
