woman in handcuffs

A 35-year-old Festus woman was arrested for reportedly causing a drunken disturbance at the Arnold VFW Post 2593, 2301 Church Road. She also allegedly tried to run away from officers before she was arrested, Arnold Police reported.

At about 9:40 p.m. April 9, officers were called to the VFW after management reportedly asked the woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, to leave. The woman allegedly had been told by management not to return to the VFW after causing a similar disturbance the previous week, the report said.

When officers arrived at the VFW on April 9, she allegedly yelled at them, saying she had the right to be there and refused to leave. When she was told she was going to be arrested for trespassing, the woman allegedly ran through the kitchen and into the main hall area of the VFW, according to the report.

Officers caught up to woman and had to physically restrain her to take her into custody. Then, an officer searched the woman’s purse and allegedly found a green-leafy substance believed to be marijuana, police reported.

The woman was taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman through the Arnold Municipal Court for possession of marijuana, trespassing and resisting arrest, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said.
