A 20-year-old Jefferson County man was arrested after a Festus Police officer pulled him over March 24 and allegedly found several bags of marijuana in the car, Chief Tim Lewis said.
At about 6:30 a.m., the police officer stopped the man, who was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, at South Mill Street and Hwy. A.
“The officer who made the stop could smell (the marijuana),” Lewis said. “He (the suspect) had several bags packed for distribution. They were under a blanket in front. We’re not sure of the amount, but it could be several ounces.”
Lewis said the suspect was booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on drug analysis, Festus Police will seek felony drug charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
