Festus Police have found items recently reported stolen from vehicles around town, Police Chief Tim Lewis says.
He said his officers arrested two 17-year-old males from Festus during the investigation.
“We got a call at 7:30 p.m. of two suspects walking along Walnut Street and looking in car windows,” he said. “Our officers responded and followed them to a garage on Walnut. The suspects did not live there. The owner of the property gave the officers permission to enter the garage and they found items reported stolen in car break-ins.”
Lewis said the property owner told police he did not know anyone had been using the garage.
The chief said he did not want to give a full description of the stolen items found in the garage because the investigation is ongoing, but indicated some of the items are electronic devices.
He said his department will seek charges against the suspects for receiving stolen property and possession of stolen property.
