Barnhart woman sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking

Hailey Pinson

Hailey Jeanine Pinson, 39, of Barnhart has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking. She also had her probation revoked and a 5-year prison sentence for a drug possession conviction was executed, according to court documents.

Jefferson County Div. 3 Circuit Judge Travis Partney on Sept. 10 sentenced Pinson and revoked her probation, which she received in January 2023 after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance, court records said.

Pinson will serve the two sentences concurrently, or at the same time, for a total of 10 years. However, she may be eligible to be placed on probation if she successfully completes a 120-day treatment program, court documents show.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Lindsay Whalen prosecuted the case.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office detectives on Jan. 21 arrested Pinson after stopping a Dodge Ram she was riding in on Lakeview Place in Barnhart. The detectives were looking for Pinson because she was wanted on an active warrant, the case’s probable-cause statement said.

After arresting Pinson, a detective found 23 pills in Pinson’s purse and multiple plastic bags in the pickup’s bed. The Missouri State Highway Patrol tested the contents of the pills and determined the substance was fentanyl, the report said.

Pinson previously was arrested in January 2023 by De Soto Police following a traffic stop. The officer arrested Pinson on an active warrant and four capsules were found in the front pocket of a hooded sweatshirt Pinson was wearing, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.

The Highway Patrol identified the substance in the pills as fentanyl.

As of Sept. 12, Pinson was being held at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, according to jail records.
