A Festus Police investigation led to the arrest of three people for alleged possession of stolen property, Chief Tim Lewis said.

He said the three were arrested on April 18 in the 400 block of South Fourth Street.

“We served a search warrant on (the residence),” he said. “We’d received information and conducted an investigation regarding stolen property in the house. We recovered numerous stolen items, including computers, laptops and other equipment. All three suspects were at the house. There was no resistance.”

Altogether the stolen items recovered that day were valued at $2,500, Lewis said.

He said those arrested were a 45-year-old Festus man, a 21-year-old Festus woman and another man whose age and town were not available.

“This was a fairly long-term investigation,” Lewis said. “It was some good investigating, old-school following leads.

“We’ve located victims who have identified their stolen items. One of the victims is from Festus and another is from St. Louis.”

The investigation is ongoing, Lewis said Tuesday, April 25.

The suspects were booked and released pending application for warrants, he said.

Festus Police are seeking charges for possession of stolen property, and additional charges may be sought, he said.
