A woman has been charged for allegedly shooting at a man she chased from a Festus home to the Festus Police Station, 100 Park Ave., on Thursday, Sept. 4. Officers were in the parking lot when the woman allegedly shot at the man at least one time, according to court documents.
No injuries were reported.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Montana Lynn Simmons, 35, of Higbee with first-degree assault or attempted assault and with unlawful use of a weapon, each one a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years in prison; and two counts of armed criminal action, unclassified felonies that carry penalties of three to 15 years in prison, court records show.
As of today, Sept. 5, Simmons is being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents said.
According to the probable-cause statement in the case, Simmons, drove to a home in the 800 block of North Fifth Street, where the man was sitting in a vehicle. She opened the man’s car door and was holding a gun.
The man closed the door and drove away. However, Simmons followed him and allegedly shot at him, the report said.
The man drove to the Festus Police Station off West Main Street and pulled into the parking lot. Simmons drove past the Police Station on West Main Street and allegedly fired a shot that hit the vehicle the man was driving, according to the report.
