A 40-year-old Festus man was arrested after he allegedly was found hiding under a bed in an Arnold home that belongs to a 39-year-old woman who has a temporary restraining order against the man. A neighbor called Arnold Police and reported seeing the man enter the home, according to police.

At about 10:15 p.m. June 10, police arrived and found a 2006 Dodge Ram parked outside the house, which is registered to the man. Officers also found a ladder that led up to an open window and a sliding glass door left open on the rear of the home, the report said.

The police contacted the homeowner, who told them there shouldn’t be a ladder on the side of the home, and she said she locked all the doors when she left. Police also confirmed the woman had a temporary restraining order against the man, and he allegedly was aware of the order, according to the report.

The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was held for 12 hours and then released pending application for warrants. He would not say why he entered the home, or if he got into the house by using the ladder or if the door was open when he arrived, the report said.

Arnold Police will seek felony charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for violating the restraining order, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
