A cook at a Eureka restaurant allegedly punched a bus boy after the two got into an argument over the bus boy sweeping the floor too early, Eureka Police reported.
Police were called at 9:14 p.m. Sept. 15 to Joe Boccardi’s restaurant, 128 Boccardi Lane, and when they arrived the bus boy, a 23-year-old Eureka man, was holding a towel to his face and was bleeding from his lip. The bus boy was treated at the scene, the report said.
The bus boy told police he was sweeping the floor in the kitchen when the cook, a 35-year-old Pacific man, came into the room and asked why he was getting ready to close early. The bus boy said the cook became angry and pushed him into a dish rack and punched him two times in the face, the report said.
The cook alleged that the bus boy started the fracas by cursing at him and pushing him first, the report said.
A witness told police the two employees had been arguing before the confrontation, and after the cook pushed and punched the bus boy, another employee stepped in to break up the confrontation, the report said.
Eureka Police will seek a charge for third-degree assault against the cook through Eureka Municipal Court, Wilson said.
