Eureka Police arrested a 21-year-old Wildwood man for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he allegedly registered nearly twice the legal limit for blood-alcohol content. The arrest happened at 2:46 p.m. March 23 after an officer spotted the suspect, in a 2007 Ford F-150, allegedly make a wide right turn onto West Fifth Street near the White Castle, 78 Hilltop Center Drive. The driver then traveled into the left-turn lane for oncoming traffic, Capt. David Wilson reported.

The officer stopped the pickup near Viola Lane. The officer noticed the odor of alcohol and reported that the Wildwood man showed signs of being intoxicated.

The driver allegedly admitted to drinking two beers and failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to the Police Station, where he allegedly registered a .159 percent blood-alcohol content, according to the report. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.

He was booked and later released. Police will seek charges against the man through Eureka Municipal Court for driving while intoxicated and improper lane use, Wilson said.
