Eureka Police arrested a 32-year-old Washington woman for alleged possession of an illegal substance after finding what appeared to by methamphetamine in a car she was driving. The woman was initially arrested for driving with a suspended license, police reported.

At about 9:40 a.m. May 4, the woman drove a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze past an officer at the QuikTrip gas station, 290 E. Fourth St., and she allegedly attempted to cover her face while passing the police cruiser. The officer then checked the car’s license plate, and he discovered the woman’s license had been suspended, the report said.

The woman had gone into the convenience store and got into the car and started to drive away. However, the officer drove toward the Cruze, and she parked the car in a different spot outside the gas station, according to the report.

The officer used his cruiser to block in the car, and he arrested the woman for driving with a suspended license. When he searched the car, he allegedly found a pair of men’s shorts in the car that had a bag that contained a white crystal-like substance in one of the pockets, the report said.

The woman allegedly said the bag belonged to her, according to the report.

The woman was taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released pending the application for a warrant, the report said.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the woman through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Lt. Michael Tapp said.
