A 41-year-old man, who lives in the Jefferson County portion of Eureka, allegedly damaged the roof of a pickup when he walked across it and a horse trailer outside of the Super 8 hotel. An approximated cost to fix the pickup was not available, Eureka Police reported.
A 71-year-old Fairwell, Mich., woman called police at about 5:50 a.m. June 7 to the Super 8 by Wyndham Eureka/Six Flags Nearby hotel, 1733 W. Fifth St., because the man was standing on top of her horse trailer. He allegedly walked across the top of her 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 and smashed the pickup’s roof before getting onto the trailer, the report said.
The woman said she did not know the man or why he was on top of her trailer. She did not provide an estimated cost to repair the pickup, according to the report.
When officers arrived, the man was on the ground and holding a bag of potting soil and a metal bar. The man put the items down when police arrived, and an officer arrested the man, the report said.
The man allegedly appeared to under the influence of an illegal narcotic, and Eureka Police contacted emergency medical service personnel to examine him. The man was then transported to an area hospital for further evaluation, according to the report.
At the hospital, the man allegedly said his son was a clone and shouted names of people who were not in the room. He attempted to leave several times, the report said.
The man also allegedly said he had smoked “dope” and was on the horse trailer because he was trying to catch bats, according to the report.
Eureka Police will seek a charge against the man through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree property damage, Capt. Michael Werges said.
