catalytic converters

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of eight catalytic converters from four locations over the last weekend of October. The cost to replace the eight stolen converters was estimated at $6,000, authorities reported.

Spokesman Grant Bissell said it is unknown if the thefts, which occurred between Oct. 28 and Oct. 31, were connected.

One of the thefts happened at Luminous Flooring, 2030 Southway Drive, south of Arnold where a catalytic converter was cut off a 2013 Ford E-350, the report said.

Another was at Sunnyhill Adventures Center, 6555 Sunlit Way, in Dittmer where converters were cut off a 2015 Ford bus and a 2016 Ford parked outside the business, according to a report.

At Ace Fleet Maintenance, 4000 Athena School Road, east of De Soto, converters were cut off a 2014 Ford, 2007 Jeep, 2002 Chevrolet and 2002 Cadillac parked on a fenced-in lot. It looked like a hole was cut in the fence to get inside the lot, the report said.

A converter also was cut off a 2013 Mercedes parked in the 1100 block of Gravois Road in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

As of Nov. 10, none of the stolen catalytic converters had been recovered and no suspects had been identified, Bissell said. Anyone with information about any of the thefts to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
