De Soto Police recently arrested a 56-year-old High Ridge man after he was found with a stolen gun in his pickup. At 9:41 a.m. Aug. 27, an officer on patrol stopped to assist the man, whose Dodge Ram pickup had broken down and was blocking the roadway near Fountain City Road and Main Street, Police Chief Rick Draper said.

“Upon further investigation, while on the scene with the vehicle’s owner, the officer located a stolen handgun, numerous rounds of various types of ammunition, gunpowder, magazines, arrowheads and copper wire,” Draper said. “All the items located were seized and placed into evidence.”

Draper said detectives continue to investigate the incident.

“These items could be stolen items; we are currently investigating that,” Draper said.

Draper also said he found it “odd” that the man had large quantities of gunpowder, ammunition and arrowheads.

De Soto Police booked the man and held him for 24 hours “but ultimately he was released pending application for warrants,” Draper said.
