A 39-year-old De Soto man who was cleaning his gun Nov. 4 accidentally shot himself in the leg, according to a report from De Soto Police Chief Rick Draper.
De Soto Police officers received the call at 5:34 p.m. and responded to the 400 block of North Grand Avenue, the report said.
When officers arrived, the man told him he was cleaning his Smith & Wesson M&P 9 mm semi-automatic handgun when the firearm discharged and struck him in his left leg, according to the report.
Valle Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the man to a local hospital. The injury did not appear to be life threatening, the report said.
