Keith Douglas Waln, 30, of De Soto has been sentenced to seven years following charges for drugs and endangering the welfare of children, according to court papers.
On March 25, 2013, Waln was found in Jefferson County with methamphetamine. Also that day, he resisted arrest, fleeing from a law enforcement officer, the report said.
In July 2012, he was found with more than 30 grams of meth in Jefferson County and was charged with drug trafficking, along with three counts of child endangerment for trafficking drugs at a home where three young children, ages 4 and younger, lived, according to the report.
Waln pleaded guilty to the charges and on Feb. 27, he was sentenced by Jefferson County Div. 3 Circuit Judge Nathan B. Stewart to five seven-year terms – one for the March 2013 meth charge and the others for the trafficking and endangerment charges – as well as to four years for resisting arrest.
All the terms are to be served concurrently, or at the same time.
In addition, Waln may be released early if he successfully completes a 120-day treatment program, the report said.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Trisha C. Stefanski handled the cases.
Waln previously received probation following a September 2010 incident in Washington County, when he was found with chemicals to make a controlled substance. He also received probation following several misdemeanor drug charges connected to a December 2009 incident in Jefferson County, court documents show.
He currently is in the Farmington Correctional Center.
