A Jefferson County woman has been accused of stealing a bookbag with a laptop inside from a vehicle parked outside the Twin City Walmart store, 650 S. Truman Blvd. The bag and laptop belonged to an employee of Vantage Credit Union, court records show.
Dana Louise Mora, 56, whose address is listed as Pevely, also is identified as Dana Louise Sandage of Arnold in court records. She was arrested on July 11, and as of Monday, July 14, she was being held on $5,000 surety-bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, according to court documents.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting on March 12 charged Mora with stealing, a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison, court records show.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Mora stole the bookbag and laptop on Oct. 30, 2024. The estimated value of the stolen items was more than $1,000.
Mora was arrested that day following a traffic stop in Festus, and after an officer allegedly saw the bag in the vehicle she was driving. She allegedly told the officer she stole the items because she was looking for money to purchase gas, the report said.
Mora also said she did not want the laptop and disposed of it outside of an unnamed business in Pevely, according to the report.
