Festus Police are investigating the theft of catalytic converters from two buses that belong to Comtrea, which provides health care services around the county. The buses were parked on a lot behind the Comtrea Annex building in the 200 block of North Mill Street in Festus when the theft occurred, Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
He said the theft happened between May 22 and June 22 and were reported to police at about 10:30 a.m. June 22, after Comtrea employees discovered the catalytic converters missing.
“Employees said two buses – a 2012 Ford Transit bus and a 2013 Ford Transit bus – both had catalytic converters stolen from them,” Lewis said. “The vehicles had not been used between May 22 and June 22. They noticed there was something wrong when they started the vehicles.”
The damage to the two buses was estimated at $2,800, he said.
As of June 29, the stolen items had not been recovered and no arrests had been made, Lewis said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
