scam alert

A scam call from a man claiming to represent Western Union ended up costing Walgreens, 776 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold more than $800. The incident happened March 9, Arnold Police reported.

At 9:36 p.m., the employee took a call from a man who claimed to work in technical support for Western Union. He told her the company needed to restart the system and had her enter a transfer code that sent $801.10 to an unknown location, the report said.

The employee determined the call was a scam after sending the funds and reporting it to the police. As of March 14, the funds had not been recovered and there were no suspects, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
