Arnold Police are seeking a man and woman who were traveling along Jeffco Boulevard in a gold 2005 Honda Civic that reportedly nearly struck an Arnold Police officer. The incident happened about 4:20 p.m. March 15 near Hwy. 141, Capt. Rich Shular said.

The officer was able to avoid being struck and was not injured, Arnold Police reported.

“They came close to him; it wasn’t for lack of trying on their part that he didn’t get hit,” Capt. Rich Shular said.

An officer saw the Civic stopped in traffic on Jeffco Boulevard and discovered the license plate on the car had been reported stolen. The officer turned on his lights and sirens, and the Civic stopped on the side of Jeffco Boulevard, the report said.

As officers approached the car, which the man was driving, he allegedly sped away, nearly hitting an officer who was approaching the front of the car, according to the report.

Officers pursued the car but called off the chase when the car entered St. Louis County. The Civic was last seen traveling north on I-55 as it passed Meramec Bottom Road and entered St. Louis County, the report said.

As of March 19, police had not identified the man or the female passenger inside the Civic, Shular said. Anyone with information about the car, driver or passenger should call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
