Arnold Police arrested a 34-year-old man, who is believed to be homeless, for allegedly stealing items from a home being renovated in the 1200 block of Ballast Point Drive. The man allegedly stole a jack hammer and a surveillance camera after going to the home twice over a five-day period, police reported.
The man was arrested on Aug. 8, one day after the second theft occurred. Officer located him in the 3200 block of Bayshore Parkway, and the man allegedly told investigators he stole the items, the report said.
The man allegedly stole a Makita jack hammer, which was valued at $1,099, on Aug. 3 from the home. The victim, a 44-year-old Imperial man, told investigators the home’s door may have been left unlocked as there were no signs of forced entry, according to the report.
The victim said he installed surveillance cameras after the jack hammer was stolen, and at about 1 p.m. Aug. 7, the suspect was allegedly seen in the home’s backyard. When the victim went to the home after seeing the man in the video, he saw one of the Revel cameras, which was valued at $154.99, was stolen, the report said.
Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said Arnold Police will seek a charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for stealing. The man was released pending the application of charges.
As of Aug. 14, neither the jack hammer nor camera had been recovered, Christopher said. He asks anyone with information about the stolen items to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
