A 42-year-old Barnhart man was arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Arnold. He was stopped because the SUV he was driving had license plates on it that were registered to another vehicle, Arnold Police reported.

At about 3:40 a.m. July 8, an officer pulled over the man, who was driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, at the BP gas station, 3700 Jeffco Blvd. After stopping the SUV, the officer learned the driver was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for a felony probation and parole violation, the report said.

After the man was arrested on the warrant, the officer searched the SUV and reportedly found a bag inside a soda cup in the center console. The bag contained a substance believed to be meth, according to the report.

The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and held for the Sheriff’s Office. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, displaying license plates registered to another vehicle and driving with a revoked license, Maj. Clinton Wooldridge said.
