A 31-year-old Labadie man told Arnold Police that a 56-year-old Arnold man pointed a gun at him during an apparent road-rage incident that began on southbound I-55 in St. Louis County and ended at the Richardson Road exit in Arnold. The Arnold man said he pointed a hairbrush, not a gun, at the Labadie man, authorities reported.
The Labadie man called Arnold Police at about 3 p.m. Aug. 31 and said he was driving a Range Rover on I-55 near Meramec Bottom Road when he passed a pickup, and the pickup driver sped up, cut him off and slammed on his brakes. The Labadie man said he then drove his Range Rover around the pickup again and got off on the Richardson Road exit, the report said.
The Labadie man said after that, the pickup driver pulled up alongside the Range Rover and pointed what looked like a black automatic pistol at him. The Labadie man then drove his Range Rover to a nearby gas station and called police, according to the report.
Arnold Police found the pickup driver at his Arnold home, and the man said he was driving on the interstate when he saw the Range Rover traveling at a high speed and weaving in and out traffic. The Arnold man said the Range Rover cut in front of him, so he followed the SUV to the Richardson Road exit. The Arnold man also said he pulled alongside the Range Rover on the exit ramp and pointed a hairbrush at the driver, the report said.
The Arnold man said he got out of his pickup when the two vehicles stopped at a red light on the exit ramp and stood in front of the Range Rover with his arms in the air. He said the Labadie man then drove around him and into the gas station parking lot, according to the report.
The Arnold man said he owns a gun but keeps it in a safe in his home. He said he did not have the gun in the pickup at the time of the incident, the report said.
Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said Arnold Police forwarded the report to the city’s prosecuting attorney to see if the office wanted to file a charge against the Arnold man for flourishing a weapon.
