Eugene Lee Baker, 42, of Arnold has been charged with two felonies for allegedly sexually assaulting a child. The victim was younger than 13 when the alleged sexual assault began in 2012 and it continued for five years, according to court records.
The victim reported the assault to Arnold Police on June 2, and Baker was arrested at about 1:30 p.m. that day. On June 3, the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged him with two counts of sexual misconduct or attempted sexual misconduct involving a child under 15, each one a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison, according to authorities.
The victim told investigators Baker exposed himself to her and had sexual contact with her on numerous occasions. She also told investigators she feared what Backer would do if she resisted his actions, the report said.
In a text message conversation with the victim’s mother, Baker allegedly admitted to fondling the victim multiple times because he was attracted to her. He allegedly referred to himself as a “sexual predator” in the text conversation, and he also said “he would continue the sexual acts against her,” the probable-cause statement said.
Baker allegedly told the victim’s mother he would flee the state to avoid being arrested and going to jail, the report said.
Baker had previous convictions. He was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2007 after pleading guilty to four charges of second-degree burglary and three felony stealing charges, court records show.
The probable-cause statement in the sexual misconduct case said Baker was in prison for six years.
