A 34-year-old Arnold man recently was arrested for numerous alleged offenses after he reportedly shot a gun within the Arnold city limits during an argument with his wife on Jan 18. It’s illegal to fire a gun in the city, Arnold Police report.

The man and his wife allegedly were arguing at their home on Crosswinds Drive, and the woman left the home, got in a vehicle and drove away. Witnesses told Arnold Police that while the woman was driving away, the man allegedly came outside waving a handgun around and fired it, the report said.

Fortunately, no one was struck, Detective Lt. James Jones said.

Officers were called to the scene and found the man, who appeared intoxicated. In addition, officers allegedly found some marijuana plants, grow lamps and two firearms at the home, the report said.

The man was taken into custody and while he was being transported to the Arnold Police Department, he allegedly tried to damage the police vehicle and strike officers. He somehow was able to remove his handcuffs, and officers had to use a stun gun to restrain him and then handcuffed him again, according to the report.

The man was booked and released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek charges against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for illegally discharging a firearm, unlawful use of a firearm, second-degree assault, resisting arrest, assault of a law enforcement officer and marijuana cultivation. As of Jan. 26, no charges had been filed, Jones said.
