Customers recently had to be evacuated at the WoodSpring Suites, formerly the Value Place hotel, in the Arnold Commons development after a man allegedly assaulted his wife and she set off a fire alarm, Arnold Police Detective Lt. James Jones said.
The incident happened just after midnight on Oct. 12, the report said.
A 34-year-old man Arnold was arrested for third-degree assault for allegedly punching his wife in the face. In response to the assault, the woman allegedly got a fire extinguisher in the hotel foyer and sprayed it, filling up the area with foam, Jones said.
The woman also allegedly used the extinguisher to break a glass door in the foyer, cutting her hand. During the incident, the woman sounded a fire alarm, and all the customers were evacuated from the hotel. They returned after the Rock Community Fire Protection District responded and said it was OK to re-enter, Jones said.
The man was arrested and held for 12 hours and then released on a summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court. The woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries, Jones said.
