A 55-year-old Arnold man was arrested for reportedly assaulting a manager at the KFC restaurant in Arnold. The suspect was told he was not allowed inside the restaurant because indoor ordering and dining were closed because of COVID-19, and then the man allegedly attacked the manager, Arnold Police reported.

At about 5:15 p.m. Aug. 11, Arnold Police got a call about a disturbance in the restaurant, 1436 Jeffco Blvd., after the suspect entered through a door with a sign that said the lobby was closed. The man reportedly pushed several tables out of the way to get to the counter to place an order, the report said.

When a female employee told the man he would need to use the drive-thru to place an order, he reportedly started yelling at her. Then the manager reportedly came out of an office and told the man to leave. The suspect allegedly yelled at the manager and then pushed the manager. Other employees helped the manger remove the man from the restaurant, and the manger called police, according to the report.

The man told police he was pushed out of the business without cause. He said he made a mistake by entering the building because he forgot the lobby was closed and needed to use the drive-thru. The suspect also said he saw no reason why the restaurant couldn’t take his order at the counter, the report said.

The man allegedly had been involved in similar incidents at other locations in the city. He was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released on a summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for alleged fourth-degree assault, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
