An Arnold Police dog detected drugs while an officer was investigating a suspicious vehicle parked near the Flamm City boat access, 1100 Telegraph Road. The incident happened June 9, at about 6:40 p.m., which was close to the boat access closing time at dusk, the report said.
The officer found a 25-year-old Hillsboro man in the vehicle, and the dog reportedly detected the smell of narcotics inside it. The officer allegedly found a substance believed to be methamphetamine, two firearms and a makeshift silencer. The man, a convicted felon, was not allowed to have firearms, according to the report.
In addition, the man was wanted on outstanding warrants through the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Pevely Police Department. So, the man was taken into custody, booked and held for the other law enforcement agencies, Arnold Police Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
Pending lab results, Wooldridge said, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of meth and unlawful possession of a weapon.
