Arnold-area man faces two felony DWI charges

Bryan Moeller

Bryan Robert Moeller, 28, who lives south of Arnold, is facing two charges for felony driving while intoxicated after he was arrested on two separate occasions following accidents in Jefferson County last year. He has been charged as a persistent offender due to being convicted for at least two prior DWI charges, according to court documents.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on March 3 charged Moeller for the two DWI offenses and misdemeanor resisting arrest. Moeller was arrested on March 5 and was being held on a $10,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court and jail records said.

According to a probable-cause statement filed by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Moeller was arrested for suspicion of DWI on Oct. 11, 2025, at the Harry S. Truman River Access on the Mississippi River south of Festus. The river access was closed and a sign was posted warning people not to trespass.

Moeller allegedly told a deputy that he ignored the signs and wanted to fish. He also told the deputy he crashed his vehicle in a ditch because he did not see a drop off, the report said.

The deputy reported Moeller was showing signs of impairment, and he arrested Moeller, who allegedly refused to perform field sobriety tests, according to the report.

A deputy arrested Moeller again on Nov. 29, 2025, following a single-vehicle crash on Abbey Lane north of Pevely. Moeller allegedly showed signs of impairment and refused to perform field sobriety tests, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.

Medical personnel reported Moeller was the only person in the crashed vehicle, the deputy reported.

Moeller allegedly refused to enter the deputy’s cruiser and had to be overpowered to be placed inside the cruiser. The deputy drove Moeller to an area hospital to be evaluated, and then Moeller was transported to the Jefferson County Jail to be booked, the report said.

According to court documents, Moeller was found guilty to at least two prior DWI charges in January 2023 following arrests in December 2019 and November 2022 in Jefferson County.
