A Jefferson County man is accused of threatening a man with a knife.

Anthony Michael Schaffer, 36, whose addresses include Dittmer and Fenton, is charged with first-degree harassment and armed criminal action. On Aug. 12, he posted a $5,000 surety bond.

According to the probable-cause statement, a victim told the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office that he and Schaffer, who had been drinking alcohol throughout the day, were engaging in UFC-type play fighting Aug. 9 when Schaffer got mad he was losing and struck the victim in the head with a closed fist.

Schaffer allegedly began waving around a knife and kept the man from leaving. He then allegedly put the knife to the man’s Adam’s apple and later threatened to stab the man to death, the report said.

The victim said when he was allowed to leave, he called law enforcement, the report said.
