Former and current Fox C-6 School District students, along with longtime Arnold residents, are invited to help celebrate the founding of the city by being part of a group photo that could be featured on the cover of a coffee-table book commemorating the city’s 50th anniversary.
Anyone who attended one of the Fox C-6 schools located in the city of Arnold or who lived in Arnold when it was incorporated in 1972 are asked to gather at by 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, on Fox High School’s football field, 751 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. The city is partnering with the Fox district and Leader Publications to hold the photo session.
“We are looking forward to seeing as many students as possible from the last 50 years to help us mark this special anniversary,” Leader assistant publisher Peggy Scott said.
Participants are asked to wear Fox C-6 colors or clothing celebrating Arnold. They will be asked to form the number “50” on the football field to create the commemorative photo.
“Fox C-6 is excited to be part of Arnold history,” said JP Prezzavento, Fox’s communication and instructional technology coordinator. “We are looking forward to seeing students from the past 50 years to come together on May 22 to commemorate the city’s 50th anniversary.”
The city also has teamed up with the Leader to produce the coffee-table book, which will be filled with photos highlighting Arnold’s history as a city since its incorporation.
In addition, a special section covering the city’s history and growth over the past five decades will be published in the Leader newspaper.
“I’m hoping a lot of people show up for the picture,” said Ward 4 Councilman Gary Plunk, who is chairing the 50th anniversary committee that is organizing events to mark the occasion. “Some of those who were in school and graduated in 1972, or around there, have continued to live their lives here and have supported the community. They have helped grow the town, and I would like to see them come out. It is their time to shine.”
Those planning to be part of the cover photo are asked to complete a form to help organizers plan the event. The form can be found on the Fox C-6 website at fox.k12.mo.us. Filling out the form is not a requirement to be part of the photograph.
