City-sponsored events are coming back in Pevely after they were canceled in 2020 because of COVID-19.
First on tap is the Pevely Days festival, scheduled for Aug. 19-21, mainly at Pevely City Park, 60 Main St.
Parks and Recreation Board chairman Matthew Deem said organizers decided to add a day to what previously had been a two-day event.
“It’s always been a Friday-Saturday event,” he said. “We’re doing Thursday, Friday, Saturday this year. (The idea) was just to give the public more of an opportunity to attend.”
As usual, the festival will include carnival rides, live music, and food and drink vendors. “Friday night, we’ll have Bloodshot Red from 5-10 p.m.,” Deem said. “They play rock and roll – old rock and roll, new rock and roll and a little country. On Thursday night and Saturday in the day, we’ll have music from DJs.
“Saturday, we have the Jonathan Braddy Band to play from 5-10 p.m. He plays a big variety of country and rock and roll.”
A car, truck and bike show is slated for 8 a.m. to noon Saturday along Main Street. Open registration begins at 7 a.m. Mikey Lanini will perform live music.
Deem said the Pevely Parks and Recreation Board is working to organize other events for later in the year.
“No confirmations yet,” he said. “It’s more in the talking stage. We’re talking about bringing the Trunk or Treat event back. We’re talking about bringing back some other things. The details are to come.”
